Wajdi Mouawad (* in Lebanon in 1968)
The Lebanese writer, actor and director grew up in exile in France where he received his training. He now lives in Canada and has recently been appointed artistic advisor for the Festival d’Avignon 2009. His latest work – “Le soleil ni la mort” – was created for Dominique Pitoiset, the artistic director of the Théâtre National de Bordeaux, who not only directed the début performance but also the German performance on the small stage of the Schaubühne at Lehniner Platz in Berlin in October 2008.
