This is not my first encounter with a large-scale performance by the German action theatre ensemble PAN.OPTIKUM. Each finale brings with it an immersion into fiery worlds of enchantment, surrounding the audience with a much awaited and expected dose of dream and pleasure, the very reason for their coming.

However, it is also true that the aim of the art of theatre and storytelling sometimes misses its mark if an audience does not speak the language of Goethe, but only waits patiently for the fireworks to begin... Fortunately, a translation in French was provided this time, thanks to an actress from Chalon, which is no trifle! Those who were willing and able could therefore experience the story... A story more or less in two parts...

The first part with a text by Wajdi Mouawad about utopia, the ability to construct a better world, based on the well-known account of the prophet Teiresias. An adaptation was presented, a modernisation which of course led one to reflect that it was possible to build a better, more humane, more dignified and more beautiful world out of the ruins of the last European wars... but with the awareness that such utopias often drift towards war and destruction... Is despair then our lot? Is the blind prophet not someone who is unable to see the worst? Who remains untroubled by it?
